The service integrates with Samsung Electronics' SmartThings platform.

Through the vehicle's connected system, owners can operate appliances such as air conditioners, air purifiers and robot vacuums in real time. Setup requires only scanning a QR code in the SmartThings app to link accounts.

That shifts the car’s role from a transport device to a central controller for the smart home.

The core of Car-to-Home is automation that reflects users’ daily patterns. By setting "Away" and "Home" modes tied to the vehicle’s location, appliances respond automatically to match the user’s movement.

For example, the system can cut power to unnecessary devices or start a vacuum when you leave, and it can precondition indoor temperature and air quality before you return.

Industry observers say the Smart Routine feature enhances both convenience and energy efficiency.

The companies will roll out the service via over-the-air (OTA) updates to vehicles equipped with the ccNC infotainment system.

Hyundai and Kia plan to expand the feature across additional models, including Genesis, as they push further into a software-defined vehicle (SDV) strategy.

Analysts say the move marks a key turning point in treating the car as a digital platform.
