Gumi, a city in North Gyeongsang Province, raised its profile in Taoyuan, Taiwan by putting K-ramen front and center at the city's signature food festival.

The city announced on April 26 that it had sent a delegation to its sister city Taoyuan to participate in the two-day Yongkang Rice Noodle Festival, which kicked off on April 25, and to introduce K-ramen to local diners.

Three private chefs from the Gumi Ramen Festival joined the delegation and served tastings of "K-Kimchi Beef Ramen" — a playful twist on the festival's signature "Gumi Hanwoo Para Ramen."

They also promoted the city by sharing plans for the 2026 Gumi Ramen Festival and spotlighting Gumi’s local tourist attractions.

Officials described the visit as a natural extension of culinary exchange between the two cities, centered on their flagship food festivals.

Previously, Taoyuan took part in the Gumi Ramen Festival for three straight years, from 2023 through 2025, showcasing traditional Taiwanese noodle dishes.

Jeong Seong-hyeon, acting mayor of Gumi, said, "This festival appearance gave us an opportunity to showcase Gumi's culinary scene and city brand to the world. We'll continue expanding international exchanges and elevate the Gumi Ramen Festival, along with other standout festivals and sporting events, to an international level to strengthen Gumi’s global profile."
