[MyDaily = Reporter Cheon Ju-young] Shin Young Wacoal announced on April 16 that it will officially bring functional apparel brand CW-X to the Korean market, opening its first pop-up at The Hyundai Seoul through April 29. The launch was planned to meet rising domestic demand for specialized body-support garments.
CW-X was developed from body-measurement data collected by the Wacoal research lab. Its core innovation embeds a sports-taping mechanism inside the garments to stabilize muscles and joints. The signature taping lines help distribute strain on the body during movement. The collection includes performance tights, sports bras and sleeveless tops for women, men’s shorts, and specialized accessories like arm braces.
Shohei Ohtani, the two-way Major League star, serves as a brand ambassador and contributed to product development. The arm brace, in particular, was developed using his direct feedback to protect his joints as he prepared to return as a pitcher. He’s even known to wear the product in games to help manage his performance.
The fourth-floor pop-up at The Hyundai Seoul offers full fittings for every product and promotions for shoppers. New members will receive sign-up perks, and customers who spend above a set amount can claim a running bag or sports towel, available while supplies last.
A Shin Young Wacoal spokesperson said, "CW-X is designed to support every movement — from high-intensity training to a casual walk. As running and fitness trends grow, we aim to set a new standard for functional wear."
After the Seoul pop-up, CW-X will continue to expand its presence with pop-ups at major department stores: Shinsegae Gwangju (April 27–May 3), Shinsegae Gangnam (May 8–14), and Lotte Busan Main Store (during May).
