Meanwhile, "Variety" follows Se-eun, the entertainment CEO behind South Korea's top idol group; Seung-hee, an obsessive fan who shadows them; and the tangled ambitions of the people around them.
Directed by Kim Yong-hoon—whose work on Netflix's "Mask Girl" and the film "Beasts Clawing at Straws" drew critical praise—the new series aims to deliver another provocative story by exposing the many faces and desires within the K-pop entertainment industry.
Son Ye-jin plays Se-eun, the CEO of the country's leading entertainment company. A brilliant strategist, Se-eun makes cold, calculated decisions in pursuit of her goals and risks everything to secure a contract renewal for the idol group she helped build.
