On the March 30 episode of SBS’s variety show No, But Really! (often shortened to A-geun-jin), actor Kim Soo-ro shared a comically awkward anecdote about shooting a kiss scene.Actors Kim Soo-ro, Uhm Ki-joon and Park Gun-hyung were guests on the episode. That day, host Tak Jae-hoon asked whether any moments on set had made Kim feel embarrassed. Kim replied that it’s especially awkward when a kissing partner turns out to be a sister-in-law or another relative by marriage. “That’s happened,” he said, adding there’s not much you can do about it.

When Tak asked whether Kim called the acquaintance beforehand to warn them, Kim joked that calling would make things even weirder — “How do you say, ‘I’m going to kiss your wife today’?” — so he usually just goes for it.Tak then teased that Uhm and Park had been stuck in Kim’s orbit for 20 years. Kim surprised the room by saying he’d even moved into the apartment next to Uhm Ki-joon’s building to keep the “trap” in place. He defended the move as an effort to get closer, not to control them. “It’s a nuance,” he said. To everyone’s surprise, Park added that Kim had originally lived next to his house.

Kim also revealed he once agreed to emcee Uhm’s older sister’s wedding as part of his effort to win Uhm over. After casting both actors in a recent production of the play Art, Kim pushed back at criticism about seating them center stage, snapping, “Try taking out a loan yourself — you’ve got to pay it back, right?”Fellow guest Kai chimed in with support, noting, “I hear he took out a 1.1 billion KRW (approximately 825,000 USD) loan for the play.” Tak Jae-hoon laughed, saying, “Getting people into a play isn’t a crime, but if it flops, it sure feels like one.”Kim Eun-jung, TenAsia reporter
