On Parents' Day, the Yangpyeong County Senior Welfare Center paid tribute to local seniors.
Yangpyeong County said on May 11 that the center hosted roughly 600 senior patrons for a commemorative event on May 8.
The celebration was organized to express appreciation and respect for older residents. It featured cultural performances, a complimentary special meal and the distribution of carnations and gifts, drawing an enthusiastic response.
In the first half, the Yangpyeong Cultural Foundation presented the \"2026 Sunlight Concert.\" The Art Philharmony energized the audience with lively dance-sport routines, and old-pop singer Yeong-shin followed with a smooth saxophone performance that earned warm applause.
Guest singer Yoon-na then performed familiar songs in an upbeat set that lifted the mood even further.
In the second half, the center's dining hall served a free Parents' Day special meal. More than 600 seniors attended, and the service proceeded in an orderly, warm atmosphere.
A Parents' Day photo area and a carnation giveaway were set up in the center's first-floor lobby. Seniors posed with spouses and friends in the brightly decorated booth, taking commemorative photos and leaving with cherished memories.
The center also displayed messages of love and gratitude from staff and distributed potted carnations and gift sets to underscore the day's meaning.
Director Kim Nam-gyu said the event was organized to express gratitude and respect for seniors on Parents' Day and pledged to continue offering a range of cultural and welfare programs to support seniors' healthy, happy lives.
