Take in a Panoramic View
Cheongnamdae’s signature spring festival, Yeongchunje, which marks the peak of spring in the presidential villa’s garden, is back. The Cheongnamdae Management Office in Chungbuk announced on April 23 that it will hold the 2026 Cheongnamdae Spring Flower Festival, Yeongchunje, across the Cheongnamdae grounds for 13 days from April 24 through May 6.
During the festival, Cheongnamdae will be transformed into a vast sea of blooms. Along the walking paths, roughly 35,000 bedding plants—pansies, violas, geraniums, daisies and marguerites—grown on-site will create a dazzling display set against the blue sweep of Daecheong Lake.
Around the helipad and the Cheongnamdae Memorial Hall, the Chungbuk Wildflower Research Association will showcase rare exhibits, including seokgok flowering arrangements and wooden-stone bonsai that are hard to see elsewhere. On the Eoulim Madang stage, ongoing performances—fashion shows, Korean traditional music (gugak), magic acts and live bands—will keep visitors of all ages entertained.
On Children’s Day, May 5, a special Family Fun Games event featuring magic, balloon art and free cotton candy will fill Cheongnamdae with kids’ laughter.
This year’s biggest new attraction is the monorail. Officially opened on March 26, the monorail runs about 330 meters (roughly 1,083 feet) and carries visitors up to the No. 1 observatory. People with disabilities, older adults and families with young children can now enjoy effortless access to a sweeping panoramic view of Cheongnamdae and Daecheong Lake.
To cut down on private-car traffic and ease congestion during the festival, Cheongnamdae will run free shuttle buses on weekends and public holidays. Visitors can park at the Munui Cultural Heritage Complex or the Nohyeon Wetland Park and board the shuttle; those using the shuttle will receive free admission to Cheongnamdae.
A Cheongnamdae official said, "By introducing the monorail this year, we have improved visitor convenience and strengthened the festival’s appeal."
