Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province just closed its pop-up tourism shop, "Let's Go to Gapyeong," in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul — and it was a hit.

According to the county on the 11th, the three-day event ran from the 8th to the 10th at Yeontral Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, drawing roughly 2,000 visitors during that period.

The county staged the pop-up in Yeonnam-dong—a neighborhood buzzing with young crowds—to refresh Gapyeong's tourism image. Families, international visitors, and plenty of people in their 20s and 30s stopped by the venue.

On site, visitors enjoyed hands-on programs starring Gapyeong’s mascots, Gatpyeong-i and Songsong-i. Ambassadors performed busking sets and teamed up with related events to boost engagement. The mascot-guessing game and the lucky draw were so popular that prizes ran out early.

Attendees said they discovered new sides of Gapyeong—like cultural events and festivals—beyond its usual reputation for nature and leisure.

A Gapyeong County official said the first downtown tourism pop-up drew more interest than expected and promised to keep using interactive promotional marketing to expand tourism demand.
