Yongin City has completed the Seongbokcheon Bike Path Improvement Project, refurbishing the bike path along Seongbokcheon in Seongbok‑dong, Suji District.
The project connected previously separated sections of the bike path and separated pedestrian and bicycle traffic to provide a safer, more pleasant riverside environment.
The city also repaired aging facilities to improve the riverside landscape and to increase residents' use of the area for leisure and relaxation.
The project site covered the area around 728 Seongbok‑dong (near Hyoja Elementary School). Yongin City invested ₩160,000,000 (approximately $120,000) to refurbish a 178‑meter (about 584 ft) stretch of bike path and to improve pavement markings.
Training program to help farmers obtain small heavy‑equipment licenses
The city will provide training for 20 local farmers to obtain licenses for small heavy equipment used in agricultural work.
The program is organized by the Yongin Agricultural Organizations Council and subcontracted to a professional training institute.
Participants will receive classroom instruction and hands‑on safety training for small heavy equipment, such as excavators and forklifts, at the Yongin Shinjin Small Heavy Equipment Training Academy in Wonsam‑myeon, Cheoin‑gu, through the end of this month.
Unlike industrial construction machine licenses, which require a separate qualification exam, operators of small heavy equipment under 3 t can receive a small heavy‑equipment license after completing the required training hours.
However, forklift applicants must hold a Class 1 regular driver's license to qualify for the permit.
