A fishing vessel caught fire in waters off Jeju, and the Coast Guard is conducting rescue operations.
This morning (14th), at about 10 a.m., the Coast Guard received a report that fishing vessel A, a 29-ton vessel, had caught fire roughly 90 km southwest of Chagwido, off Jeju City.
Nearby vessels rescued eight of the ship’s 10 crew members; authorities believe the remaining two are still in a cabin onboard.
The Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels and used fire monitors to extinguish the blaze while continuing searches and rescue efforts for the remaining crew.
