The public parking facility occupies the B1 level beneath Gocheon Cultural Park and offers 100 spaces. Nearby public institutions include the Areumchae Senior Welfare Center, the Youth Center, the Public Health Center, the Central Library, and a cultural and arts center currently under construction.
Officials expect the new lot to eliminate illegal parking on adjacent side streets that have long suffered severe shortages, ease vehicle congestion, and reduce the risk of pedestrian accidents.
They also say the facility will create a more pleasant walking environment and steadier traffic flow, improving local convenience and access to public services.
Mayor Kim Seong-je said, “We worked hard to create this public parking lot to address the inconvenience citizens experienced because of insufficient parking at public facilities such as the Areumchae Senior Welfare Center and the Youth Center. I hope residents can use these facilities in a more comfortable environment.”
He added that the city will continue pursuing parking improvements tailored to local needs and demand.
