Chungbuk Health and Science University announced on the 10th that it has been selected for the 2026 "Policy Bridge: Foreign Resident Communication and Empathy" competitive grant program and will launch an initiative to help foreign residents and international students settle and integrate into the local community.
The participatory project will collect foreign residents' firsthand experiences and translate them into policy proposals. Its aim is to move beyond standard support services and ensure local policy reflects the real experiences of foreign residents.
Participants will strengthen ties with the community through orientation and mentoring, involvement in local festivals and cultural events, and small-group community activities.
They will also share experiences and opinions on daily life, public administration, healthcare, and education during these activities, and work together to develop those insights into concrete policy proposals.
President Park Yong-seok said he expects the program to provide a meaningful opportunity for the real-life experiences and perspectives of foreign residents, including international students, to help shape local policy.
Chungbuk Health and Science University has previously run a range of programs for foreign nationals, including support for international students' settlement, social integration initiatives, and training programs for foreign technical workers.
Recently, after being designated as a college for training foreign caregivers, the university has expanded its role in cultivating local care workers and supporting community settlement.
