A magnitude-2.4 earthquake struck near Hwasun County in South Jeolla Province.

On the 5th, the Korea Meteorological Administration said the quake occurred at approximately 10:10:26 p.m. local time, centered about 8 km (5.0 miles) east-northeast of Hwasun County (35.08°N, 127.07°E).

The epicenter was at 35.08°N, 127.07°E, with a depth of about 11 km (6.8 miles).

The KMA warned that residents in nearby areas may have felt shaking and urged them to take safety precautions.
