On the 7th, Yang said on his social media that an article had reported he joined the campaign of provisional North Gyeongsang Province governor candidate Lee Cheol-woo, and that related posts have been spreading on social media. He said he felt it was necessary to offer an explanation and therefore issued a statement.
He explained that a friend he is close to recently asked to use his name, and he granted permission without giving it much thought. Looking back, he said his consent was due to ignorance—he had not anticipated the consequences.
He apologized to his close friends and the parties involved, as well as to the baseball fans and viewers who have supported him. He emphasized that he has no intention, now or in the future, of entering politics or engaging in political activities.
He added that he hopes this clears up any misunderstandings and that he will continue to live responsibly as the head of his household, focused on his family's well-being. He apologized once again for the confusion.
