On the 12th, the People Power Party criticized Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s statement that he would run in the June 3 local elections only if conditions such as an early formation of an innovation campaign committee were met, saying, “Is he asking us to rearrange the entire schedule for his sake?”

A senior party official told reporters at the National Assembly that afternoon, “We said we would register once we held a party meeting, and we even issued the party's resolution — so are you asking us to act on it now?”

He added, “Doesn’t this look like Mayor Oh is preparing an exit because he fears defeat?”

The official accused Oh of asking for special scheduling within formal election procedures, calling that stance elitist and a request for preferential treatment, and asked whether such expectations were appropriate coming from someone who has served as mayor four times.

Earlier, after delivering a special lecture at The Plaza Hotel in Jung‑gu during the '2026 Hi‑Seoul Corporate Support Program briefing,' Mayor Oh told reporters, “I cannot register my candidacy for the election today.”

He said that on the 9th the party adopted a welcomed resolution on changing direction, but added, “Reviewing the party’s actions up to now, I don’t see any signs that it has moved into an implementation phase.”

Oh said that when he met with Representative Jang Dong‑hyuk, he emphasized the need for a shift in direction and personnel changes and suggested that launching an innovation campaign committee early could be the best solution. “I stressed this several times, but I can scarcely find any evidence of effort or signs of implementation,” he said.

Mayor Oh said he would register as soon as he saw even the slightest sign of change and added, “Since you’ve already agreed to delay the registration by a day or two, if you give me a bit more time I will register as a candidate and campaign vigorously.”
