Park In (65), vice chair of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council, announced he is running to become Yangsan’s first three-term provincial assembly member. He declared his candidacy for the 5th district (Seochang, Soju-dong) at a city hall press conference on the 20th.
“Ungsang needs a strong, three-term provincial assembly member,” Park said. “Yangsan requires the political skills and personal networks necessary to secure the support and cooperation of Gyeongsangnam Province and the central government on budgets, projects and policy decisions. I will act as a clear bridge between Yangsan and the provincial and national governments.”
Park noted that surviving 11 election campaigns—three wins and eight losses—earned him the nickname “Yangsan’s roly‑poly,” a reference to his resilience. “Those hardships have prepared me to do this job well, and they’ve left me with a deep sense of duty to do even better. I will pay attention to the struggles of ordinary residents and protect vulnerable members of our community,” he said.
During his previous term on the provincial council, he led the expansion of the Hoeya sewage treatment plant and the Deokgyecheon flood-prevention project.
Vice Chair Park holds a master’s degree in public administration, with a concentration in local government and urban administration, from Yonsei University’s Graduate School of Public Administration. He served on the 4th Yangsan City Council and as a member of the Gyeongsangnam Provincial Assembly in its 10th and 12th terms.
