At a Memorial Day ceremony on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem on April 21 (local time), Netanyahu said, “Iran tried to destroy Israel with nuclear weapons and thousands of ballistic missiles.”

He added, “If we had not acted decisively, names like Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan would have become names of tragedy like Auschwitz, Majdanek and Treblinka,” comparing Iran’s nuclear sites to Nazi death camps.

Auschwitz, Majdanek and Treblinka were camps operated by Nazi Germany in Poland during World War II, where the Nazis murdered millions of Jews.

Netanyahu frequently invokes those Holocaust camps when describing Iran’s nuclear facilities, arguing that Israel’s actions against Iran were defensive measures.

“Together with our great ally, the United States, we dismantled these destructive capabilities in advance and averted a tragedy. Israel has now eliminated the existential threat it faced,” he said.

He stressed that the operation was intended to guarantee the survival of the Jewish people and urged unity and solidarity across Israeli society.
