Daegu City said on March 10 that it has no plans to fill the vacant deputy mayor for economic affairs post.
Recently, allegations emerged that People Power Party lawmaker Kim Sang-hoon, who represents Seo-gu in Daegu, attempted to influence the city’s personnel decisions by recommending a candidate for the economic deputy mayor position.
Daegu City said that around the deputy mayor’s Feb. 11 resignation, discussions about administrative integration intensified. In preparation, the city reviewed several potential candidates and considered whether to appoint a new deputy mayor for economic affairs. During that review, no decision was made to appoint a new deputy mayor, and no individual was selected.
