Review of 10 Proposed and Amended Ordinances

The Daegu City Council will convene the 323rd extraordinary session from March 10 through March 19 to review 10 proposed and amended ordinances, conduct site visits, and begin its legislative activities.
Items scheduled for review include △ a partial amendment to the Daegu Metropolitan Underground Safety Management Ordinance; △ a partial amendment to the Daegu Youth Basic Ordinance; △ a partial amendment to the Daegu Tourism Promotion Ordinance; △ a partial amendment to the Daegu Multi‑family Housing Management Ordinance; △ a partial amendment to the Daegu Local Construction Industry Revitalization Ordinance; △ a full revision of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education's Career Education Promotion Ordinance; and △ the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education's Student Customized Integrated Support Ordinance. These and other measures were proposed by council members across various policy areas.
At the first plenary session on March 10, the council held an opening ceremony and approved the procedural measures needed to manage the session.
At the second plenary on March 11, councilors will pose one administrative question concerning the construction of the new municipal office building and the designation of a national urban park.
In addition, five five-minute floor statements will address the following topics: △ the future of the Fantasia Daegu Festa and the Powerful Daegu Festival with citizen participation; △ Daegu's status as a child-friendly city — an unvarnished look at persistently low pay for care workers; △ calls for structural compensation in communities hosting unwanted facilities — arguing that sacrifice should be reciprocated with mutual gains; △ a new phase for Anshim New Town through the arrival of Shinsegae Premium Outlets and resolution of related traffic problems; and △ the invisible crisis of youth outmigration and the need to shift investment priorities.
From March 12 through March 18, the standing committees will review ordinances and other agenda items, visit relevant sites to hear citizens' concerns, and assess the progress of policy implementation.
On March 19, the council will convene the third plenary session for five-minute statements on various subjects, give final approval to items that passed committee review, and adjourn the 323rd extraordinary session.
