Lee Jang-seop, the Democratic Party nominee for Cheongju mayor, has moved to present a united front with the candidates he faced in the primary.
On the 28th, Lee met at a restaurant in Cheongju with former primary candidates Kim Geun-tae, Kim Hak-gwan, Park Wan-hee, and Seo Min-seok for a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) meal.
Earlier, on the 16th, he defeated Park Wan-hee to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination for Cheongju mayor.
Campaign officials said all who attended accepted Lee’s request to serve as co-heads of a joint campaign headquarters. Huh Chang-won, who was unable to attend because of personal commitments, also expressed his intention to join.
On social media, Lee wrote, "At a modest table where we sat face-to-face, we laid out Cheongju’s future together." He added, "As one united team, we will move forward firmly together."
Huh also posted on social media, "As one team, we will do our utmost to secure a Democratic Party victory in the local elections and to elect Lee as Cheongju mayor."
