Park Cheol-ho, a preliminary candidate for the Gwangju City Council in Nam-gu District 1, announced on the 10th a slate of community-focused pledges aimed at improving transportation and expanding local social infrastructure.
Park identified four core priorities: improving transit, expanding community social infrastructure (생활 SOC), promoting urban regeneration, and strengthening welfare infrastructure.
He highlighted enhancing connections to the regional transit network around the Juwol residential area as a central task. His proposals include constructing a bus rapid transit (BRT) corridor, introducing a city tram, and establishing a regional transfer system to improve overall transit accessibility.
For Wolsan-dong, Park pledged urban regeneration and expanded local services. His plan calls for a mixed cultural-and-community hub, construction of a new Wolsan-dong administrative and welfare center, and completion of the suspended sewage and stormwater separation project in the Wolsan district.
Anticipating potential administrative integration between Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, Park said he would prepare a Nam-gu development strategy focused on strengthening the metropolitan transportation network, creating a livable, culture-centered city, and expanding community infrastructure and public services.
“Policies that deliver tangible improvements to residents’ daily lives matter more than grand slogans,” Park said, adding that he intends to demonstrate Nam-gu’s transformation through concrete results.
