The Democratic Party of Korea has confirmed nominees in primaries for three Busan district mayoral races — Dongnae, Yeongdo and Sasang.
On the 11th, the party’s Busan branch said that after two days of voting on the 10th and 11th, Tak Young-il defeated Ju Soon-hee to secure the Dongnae district mayoral nomination. Kim Cheol-hoon beat Park Seong-yun for the Yeongdo nomination, and Seo Tae-kyung edged out Kim Bu-min for Sasang.
That leaves only the Seo-gu mayoral runoff. The party will hold the runoff vote over two days, on the 17th and 18th.
The party has put forward six female candidates as lead contenders: Seo Eun-suk for Busanjin District, Jeong Myung-hee for Buk District, Kim Jin for Suyeong District, Kim Kyung-ji for Geumjeong District, Woo Seong-bin for Gijang County, and Kang Hee-eun for Jung District.
The city party said it will complete the local mayoral nominations and then proceed with sequential primaries for metropolitan and district council seats, as well as for proportional representation slots.
