[TV Daily's Kim Jin-seok] Singer Yves is redefining sensation. Yves releases her fourth EP, NAIL, today (the 17th) at 1 p.m. on major streaming platforms. NAIL uses the nail as an object through which Yves maps and records her personal sensibility. She focuses on moments of feeling that connect people across borders of nationality, race, gender and language, capturing the instant when differing tastes naturally converge and turning those moments into music. The title track, \"NAIL\" (feat. Lolo Zouaï), leans on a gritty, alternative hip-hop sound. Yves wrote the lyrics herself, adding authenticity to a metaphor about a presence that won't fade and keeps resurfacing. Guest artist Lolo Zouaï brings a contrasting flow and tone that shifts the song's texture and expands its emotional range. The music video released with the single shows Yves meeting a range of sensations. In unfamiliar spaces she gradually embraces new feelings, pulling listeners deeper into the music. The video's stylish imagery gives the piece a cinematic polish. The new release includes five tracks in total: \"It,\" Yves's personal exploration of the concept of death; \"HALO,\" which uses a repetitive, hallucinatory rhythm to draw the listener deeper into feeling; \"Break It\" (feat. Lexie Liu), where compressed energy bursts outward along fractures of sensation; and \"birth,\" a reflection on emergence rendered with classical instrumentation. The final track, \"birth,\" flows naturally into the opener, \"It,\" completing a circular structure that runs through the EP. Yves contributed lyrics to the title track \"NAIL\" as well as to \"It,\" \"HALO,\" and \"birth,\" imprinting the record with her distinct musical voice. Collaborations with Lolo Zouaï and Lexie Liu—artists active primarily in the United States and China, respectively—promise musical synergy that crosses borders and languages. Yves's fourth EP, NAIL, is available today (the 17th) at 1 p.m. on major streaming platforms. [TV Daily's Kim Jin-seok news@tvdaily.co.kr/Photo credit=Paixpermil] |
