[EPN Enpinau reporter Go Nari] KBS 1TV's 'National Singing Contest' at the Namgang riverside in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, energized the midday crowd on Sunday the 5th with a slate of talented performers and deeply personal stories.
The Jinju special featured 15 acts who proudly showcased the city's wealth of local talent.
The show opened with Young-gi's lively take on \"Neighborhood Oppa,\" followed by O Yu-jin's bright, upbeat rendition of \"Some.\"
Veteran vocalist Han Hye-jin sang \"It Just Passes By,\" and Miss Kim's performance of \"Side\" raised the energy even further.
Closing the program, Park Seo-jin delivered a stirring performance of \"The One I Fell for at First Sight,\" combining bold staging with powerful vocals.
One contestant who took the stage to honor a mother currently undergoing chemotherapy moved the audience. MC Nam Hee-seok praised the performer, saying, \"You've raised her so well. I hope she makes a full recovery,\" and offered heartfelt encouragement.
Nam even called for an impromptu encore, requesting \"Your Lantern,\" and the packed crowd answered with enthusiastic applause and cheers.
Onstage moments also highlighted local flavor: a Jinju vocal coach brought homemade yukjeon (pan-fried meat pancakes) to share with Nam Hee-seok, producing a warm, convivial scene that showcased the city's food and attractions. Nam volunteered to serve as a de facto ambassador, urging viewers to celebrate Jinju's culinary scene and history.
Highlights on the broadcast spanned generations and professions, from a pair of 39-year-old friends performing \"Katalena\" to a 9-year-old boy's take on \"Heung Arirang,\" and a monk's rendition of \"Someone Who Left Anyway.\"
