[mdtoday = Reporter Yang Jeong-eui] Singer-songwriter Hong Isak continues his musical journey with a new EP, 'Castle In The Air,' due at 6 p.m. on the 23rd.

The record is a chronicle for people caught between ideals and reality. It traces the process of accepting an imperfect self in a vast world and finding the freedom to live in the present.

The five-track EP is threaded with Hong's determination to embrace imperfection and move past apathy. His team says the project organically conveys the realization that true freedom arrives when you accept you can’t do everything perfectly.

The lead single, 'Doesn't Matter,' most directly expresses the album's theme. Built on a driving EDM kick and bass, it pairs buoyant guitar riffs with tight rhythms and leans toward a punk-rock energy. Over that brisk instrumentation, Hong's distinctive vocals deliver a pledge not to be shaken by circumstance.

The album jacket was designed to reflect the artist's sincerity. In the black-and-white portrait, Hong appears stripped-down and resolute; his steady gaze symbolically exposes the album's inner confession.

Pre-release material drew attention from fans. A live clip for the track 'Lean on Me,' released on the 22nd, relies on acoustic guitar and minimal drums to amplify the sense of being in the room. Its plainspoken lyrics and understated mood have earned positive reactions from listeners.

Hong already tested the new material at festival shows and gauged the audience response. He plans to bring that energy to a solo run: Hong will perform a three-night concert, 'Sway,' at the Ticketlink 1975 Theater in Seoul's Gwangjin District from May 23 to 25, where he will present the new songs live.
