Violinist Lim Chang-ho will present a solo recital at 2 p.m. on May 10 at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center.
Presented by Yein Arts Planning and sponsored by the Juilliard alumni association, the concert runs about 90 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. All seats are priced at KRW 30,000 (about $22.50).
The program features works by Hindemith, Brahms, Schubert and Ravel. Lim will open with Hindemith’s Violin Sonata No. 1, followed by Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 3, Schubert’s Rondo in B minor and Ravel’s Tzigane. The recital spans repertoire from the Romantic era through 20th-century music.
Lim graduated from Seoul Arts High School and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The Juilliard School. He continued performance studies at the Manhattan School of Music and Rutgers University. He made his debut with the New York Symphonietta and has since appeared at major venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
He has won prizes in competitions at home and abroad and currently teaches at Seoul National University, Korea National University of the Arts and Ewha Womans University. Pianist Park Ji-yoon will accompany him at the piano for this recital.
