Pianist Seong-Jin Cho will appear on May 8 with the Munich Philharmonic under the baton of conductor Lahav Shani. Cho rose to international stardom in 2015 when he became the first Korean to win the Chopin International Piano Competition. Since then he has performed with top orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic, establishing himself as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation. On this program he will be the soloist in Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 — a fiendishly difficult score that demands dazzling technique and explosive power. The Munich Philharmonic will also present Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Brahms’s Symphony No. 1, showcasing the orchestra’s mastery of the German orchestral tradition.

May 13 — Yunchan Lim piano recital

On May 13, Yunchan Lim — who became the youngest winner in the history of the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and sparked a global sensation — will give a solo recital. Riding a record-making run that includes two honors at the 2024 Gramophone Awards, Lim has programmed works by Schubert and Scriabin. In the first half he will perform Schubert’s Piano Sonata No. 17, the “Gasteiner.” The second half will feature Scriabin’s Piano Sonatas Nos. 2–4. Combining meticulous musicianship and a poetic touch at the keyboard, Lim’s program promises an intense, unforgettable experience for listeners.

They underscore the center’s role as more than a concert hall — a symbolic venue that shares the essence of contemporary classical music in real time.

An Art Center Incheon official said, "We're thrilled at the prospect of experiencing the breath of two artists who symbolize our era in the same space with such a short interval between them.
