'First Love Is a Curse' explores the paradox of how beautiful memories can linger and hurt more deeply. YUJU said the song captures the sensation of remaining in someone's mind as the image of a first love, haunting them indefinitely.

She added that she was inspired by the idea that, in love, people often suffer more over pretty memories than unpleasant ones. She wanted the protagonist to leave only a lovely impression—without resentment—so that she becomes, for the other person, a kind of "curse."

YUJU singled out the second verse's lyrics as the song's focal point, saying she concentrated on conveying intense feeling in brief, spare lines. "I tend to take themes that linger in my head and turn them into songs as they come," she said. "I was deeply involved in every stage—from the track and melody to the lyrics and the video." She even selected perfume and wardrobe carefully on the day of recording to fully inhabit the song's mood.

With this comeback, YUJU said she aims to further cement her musical identity. "I hope this song marks the moment that builds a definitive musical world for YUJU," she said.
