[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] K-pop supergroup BTS has demonstrated its global clout by sweeping music charts across the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Europe with Arirang (ARIRANG).

On April 4, Spotify’s latest weekly charts (tracking March 27–April 2) showed BTS retained the No. 1 positions on Weekly Top Albums, Weekly Top Songs, Weekly Top Artists and the Global Chart, repeating last week’s clean sweep. Remarkably, all 14 tracks from the album placed inside the Weekly Top Songs Global top 50 for a second consecutive week. The group also led Spotify’s daily charts — Daily Top Artists Global and Daily Top Songs Global — for 14 straight days (March 20–April 2), sustaining a lengthy run.

They also dominated YouTube Music’s weekly charts. Title track “SWIM” topped both the Global and U.S. Weekly Top Songs charts (tracking March 20–26), logging roughly 83 million global weekly streams and about 6.2 million in the U.S. In addition to “SWIM,” four other tracks — “Body to Body” (No. 7), “Hooligan” (No. 26), “FYA” (No. 32) and “Like Animals” (No. 39) — ranked among the chart’s upper tier, and 11 songs from the album charted in total. BTS’s Global Weekly Top Artist ranking jumped 52 spots from before the release to No. 3.

With a chart run reaching 527 weeks, BTS tied the record set by global pop stars such as Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. The music video for the album track “2.0,” released April 2, also held the No. 1 spot on YouTube’s Global Daily Top Music Videos for two consecutive days (April 1–2, local time).

In the Official UK Charts published April 4, BTS’s fifth studio album Arirang placed No. 4 on the Official Albums Top 100 (April 3–9). “SWIM” landed at No. 5 on the Official Singles Top 100, while “Body to Body” and “NORMAL” charted at Nos. 49 and 74, respectively. “SWIM” also topped the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts for a second straight week.

BTS has begun consolidating top positions across major charts in Europe and Australia. According to the ARIA charts released April 3, the new album remained No. 1 on Australia’s Top 50 Albums chart for a second week. “SWIM” and “Body to Body” entered the Top 50 Singles at Nos. 19 and 46. On Germany’s Offizielle Deutsche Charts (April 3), the album and its title track ranked No. 2 on the albums chart and No. 3 on the singles chart, respectively. The album also placed No. 2 on France’s SNEP Top Albums chart (March 27–April 2).

Meanwhile, with Arirang, BTS simultaneously topped the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart and the Hot 100 singles chart, underscoring their dominance of the global music market. Back home, they claimed seven music show wins — on SBS’s Inkigayo, KBS2’s Music Bank, Mnet’s M Countdown and MBC M’s Show! Champion — despite not appearing on those broadcasts.
