Gyeonggi Technopark has partnered with Gyeonggi Province to help local auto-parts suppliers commercialize their entry into the eco-friendly vehicle market.

On March 10, Gyeonggi Technopark said the industry’s move toward electrified and hydrogen vehicles is no longer an optional growth path for parts makers but a survival imperative. Since 2024, the organization has supported parts companies’ transitions into the future-vehicle ecosystem by helping develop core components for eco-friendly vehicles and providing commercialization support, including prototype fabrication, design and analysis, testing and validation, and domestic and international certification.

Notably, Somuna — a 2024 program participant — integrated a battery control system with a DC-driven HVAC unit and tied the assembly to a vehicle’s main battery. The company developed a simultaneous main-and-sub battery charging system for electric cold-chain delivery vehicles that charges the auxiliary battery whenever the main pack is being charged. Somuna secured strategic bridge investment from the Korea Small and Medium Business Corporation and won the Korea–Arab Startup Idea Award.

Last year’s participant PM Energy Solution developed a portable power unit to support vehicle software updates. Using an embedded auxiliary battery and a voltage-control system as an independent auxiliary power source, the device enables stable OTA updates without external power. The product earned a CES 2026 Innovation Award.

Gyeonggi Technopark Director Jeong Jin-su said the agency will continue working with Gyeonggi Province to get ahead of the sector’s shifting paradigm. “This year we plan to select seven local companies that are developing new items for eco-friendly vehicles — including battery-electric and hydrogen platforms — or adapting existing technologies for those vehicles,” he said. “The program will help them strengthen future-vehicle competitiveness and pursue sustainable growth.”

Selected companies will receive up to ₩40,000,000 (about $30,000) in commercialization support over eight months to cover prototype production, certification at home and abroad, and related services.

Applications are open until 6 p.m. on the 18th.
