Tesla’s six-seat electric SUV, the Model Y L, has completed Korean certification steps and is reportedly nearing a local launch.

With certification wrapped up, deliveries could begin in the first half of 2026.

The Model Y L is a long-wheelbase version of the standard Model Y.
The wheelbase is extended by about 150 mm and overall length grows roughly 177 mm.
That extra length makes room for a 2-2-2 six-seat layout in the cabin.
While the third row won’t offer expansive space, the six-seat option broadens customer choices in the segment.

Korean certification documents list the Model Y L as an all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric SUV.
It is fitted with a 97.25 kWh battery supplied by LG Energy Solution.
The certification lists the following ranges:
Approximately 543 km under standard ambient conditions
Around 454 km in low-temperature conditions
These figures are officially certified.
Industry analysts say these numbers should help mitigate the typical winter range loss that affects electric vehicles.

Asian markets could be prioritized

The Model Y L is already on sale in China and is built at the Shanghai Gigafactory, where it serves as a strategic export model for Asia and Europe.
By contrast, Tesla has not announced a firm U.S. launch date.
Elon Musk has indicated a U.S. rollout could come after late 2026.
As a result, industry observers expect Tesla to expand sales first across Asian markets, including Korea.
