Tata Daewoo Mobility said March 30 it will deepen its strategic partnership with global powertrain maker Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) and continue close cooperation. The firms extended a five-year supply agreement last year and said the latest collaboration will further solidify their ties.
On March 24, company leaders and officials gathered in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, for an event marking the partnership. Tata Daewoo Mobility President Kim Tae-seong and FPT CEO Sylvain Blaise attended and the teams reviewed past results and discussed the path forward.
Tata Daewoo Mobility fits FPT’s NEF and CURSOR engines (4–13ℓ class) into its core models: the heavy-duty MAXEN, the medium-duty KUXEN and the midsize DEXEN. Those models have earned steady customer support in South Korea’s commercial vehicle market thanks to their durability and solid performance.
All supplied engines meet Euro VI emissions standards and deliver strong fuel efficiency and low-emission performance to meet growing demand for cleaner transport. They also comply with current cybersecurity standards, including UNECE R155 and ISO 21434, bolstering vehicle security.
Over the past two decades the companies have supplied more than 90,000 engines, building a stable supply base and technical edge in commercial-vehicle powertrains through long-term cooperation.
FPT’s Technical R&D Center in Gunsan is a key hub for the partnership, supporting joint development of next-generation technologies and providing locally tailored technical assistance. Tata Daewoo Mobility said it will continue raising product quality using that local R&D capability.
“Our partnership with FPT reflects 20 years of accumulated trust and cooperation and goes beyond a simple supplier relationship,” Tata Daewoo Mobility President Kim Tae-seong said. “It’s a strategic collaboration that has produced tangible market results. We will keep strengthening our product competitiveness.”
FPT CEO Sylvain Blaise said, “This cooperation demonstrates that our efforts are delivering market results. FPT regards meeting customers’ diverse operating environments and needs as a core responsibility, and we will continue supporting them with reliable, innovative solutions.”
Meanwhile, Tata Daewoo Mobility is focusing on enhancing product competitiveness to respond to shifting market conditions by expanding its electrified and eco-friendly commercial-vehicle lineup. The company said the collaboration will help further reinforce its powertrain technology base.
