Regional air mobility carrier Seom Air cleared the final regulatory hurdle for commercial service on March 10, when authorities issued an Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

On March 10, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport completed its safety verification of Seom Air and issued the AOC under the Aviation Safety Act. Seom Air built its operation around safety—taking delivery of new aircraft, recruiting crew with medical and rescue expertise, and hiring flight and maintenance teams specialized for the aircraft type—and the ministry confirmed the carrier met all core safety requirements.
With the AOC secured, Seom Air will begin full commercial service on March 30, launching scheduled operations on the Gimpo–Sacheon route. The route will operate four round trips daily, and tickets will be available on Seom Air’s official website beginning the afternoon of March 10.
Starting March 12, Seom Air will also operate non-scheduled Gimpo–Sacheon flights six days a week with two round trips per day, providing more convenient travel options between Gimpo and Sacheon for local residents.
Positioning itself as a regional aviation infrastructure provider, Seom Air’s debut has quickly been framed as a potential solution to the ongoing debate over Incheon-to-regional-airport direct flights. Delivering essential mobility for local communities has been a core objective since the airline’s inception.
Seom Air plans to build a backbone network linking hub airports with regional fields to fill gaps in the country’s aviation infrastructure and to lead efforts to revitalize regional airports as the nation’s primary regional carrier.
