Hankook Tire will supply its electric-vehicle–specific performance tires, the iON evo and iON GT, as original equipment for Kia's compact electric SUV, the EV2.
According to Hankook Tire on March 24, Kia launched the EV2 to target Europe’s compact electric SUV market. The model emphasizes space efficiency and advanced driver-assistance systems, and the long-range version with 16-inch wheels delivers up to 448 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
Hankook Tire will supply the iON evo in an 18-inch size and the iON GT in a 16-inch size for the EV2.
Both tires are engineered to balance low noise, low rolling resistance, strong grip and improved tread life to maximize EV driving performance.
The iON evo uses an EV-optimized construction that increases cornering stiffness by about 10% and features an aramid-reinforced belt made from a high-performance fiber to enhance high-speed stability.
Its specialized technologies reduce cabin noise by up to 18% and lower rolling resistance, improving energy efficiency by up to 6%.
The tire also employs a dedicated compound and an optimized profile to reduce wear and extend mileage by up to 15%.
The iON GT incorporates sustainable materials certified under the ISCC PLUS system—such as bio-based silica and recycled PET fiber tire cords—and has earned an A grade on the EU tire label for rolling resistance, wet grip and noise.
Hankook Tire said this original-equipment supply expands its EV-series portfolio and reinforces its position as a key partner in Kia’s electrification efforts.
A Hankook Tire spokesperson said, \"We will continue to pursue healthy, sustainable growth through environmentally conscious technology development and community engagement.\"
