Signed LOI with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and Sodis
Aiming to develop general driving intelligence that enables AI to control vehicles

KG Mobility will develop next-generation end-to-end (E2E) autonomous driving AI technology.
KG Mobility said March 17 that it signed a letter of intent on March 16 at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute to jointly develop and commercialize next-generation autonomous driving AI with ETRI and Sodis.
Under the collaboration, KG Mobility will provide autonomous driving systems, real-world driving data collected on public roads and access to driving-test infrastructure. ETRI and autonomous-driving specialist Sodis will use those assets to build AI that perceives the environment in a human-like way and directly controls the vehicle, pursuing a general driving intelligence.
Conventional autonomous driving stacks typically separate perception, decision-making and control across different systems. This project aims to create an end-to-end model in which a single unified AI understands road conditions and simultaneously outputs steering and acceleration/braking commands.
The program will apply multimodal AI—a major global trend—to autonomous driving, combining camera-based visual input with language-based concepts and situational context so the system can make more nuanced, precise decisions.
Key initiatives include developing reinforcement-learning–based autonomous-driving software that predicts hazards on congested roads and determines optimal maneuvers, and creating core perception-and-decision AI software to enable driving in hard-to-predict environments such as severe weather.
KG Mobility holds core foundational technologies that ETRI secured through national R&D programs administered by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, and the Autonomous Driving Technology Development Innovation Project Group. By combining those technologies with KG Mobility’s real-world driving data, the company expects to develop an optimized autonomous driving model.
A KG Mobility official said, “Partnering with ETRI will allow us to integrate advanced autonomous driving features more efficiently from the vehicle development stage, helping us overcome current limits in autonomous technology and strengthen our product competitiveness. We will continue to advance autonomous driving capabilities and complete our eco-friendly vehicle lineup to secure future growth drivers and build a sustainable foundation for long-term growth.”
