Established its first Europe-based production hub dedicated to a global customer
Begins mass production of chassis modules for electric vehicles and hybrid models
Hungary emerges rapidly as an Eastern European auto production hub

Hyundai Mobis will expand its chassis-module supplies to Mercedes‑Benz in Europe, following its operations in North America.
Hyundai Mobis said on the 10th that it has established its first Europe-based production hub dedicated to a global customer in Hungary, and the facility has recently begun full operations.
The company said Mercedes‑Benz has recognized its steady supply record, production technology and quality competitiveness, built up over years of supplying chassis modules. Hyundai Mobis has been supplying chassis modules to Mercedes‑Benz from its Alabama plant since 2022.
The new Hyundai Mobis plant is located in Kecskemét in central Hungary. The facility is sited close to the customer to speed deliveries and maximize logistics efficiency.
Hyundai Mobis operates a just-in-sequence, make-to-order production system that receives production plans from customers in real time and begins manufacturing immediately. The plant covers about 50,000 m² (about 538,200 sq ft), roughly the size of seven soccer fields.
The company declined to disclose contract value or target models, citing standard practice. Industry sources say the deal is likely substantial given the large size of chassis modules and the customer’s premium status.
From the Hungary plant, Hyundai Mobis will supply chassis modules for electric vehicles and hybrid models. The company has also installed equipment capable of mixed production with internal-combustion vehicles and plans to expand supply accordingly.
Hungary has rapidly emerged as an Eastern European hub for vehicle and battery production. Annual new-car output exceeds 500,000 units, and many global automakers operate there. Recently, Chinese automakers and battery firms have launched large investments, and Korean battery makers are also expanding their presence.
Hyundai Mobis selected Hungary as its new European base to pursue additional orders from global customers. Hungary is the company’s fourth production site in Europe after the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Turkey, and it will operate as its first hub dedicated to a global customer.
Once its Spain plant, which supplies battery systems to another global customer, begins operations, Hyundai Mobis will have five production sites covering all of Europe. That broader footprint should bolster parts-supply resilience and improve production competitiveness.
Hyundai Mobis said it expects the Hungary plant to help cement long-term partnerships. Chassis modules integrate major underbody systems — braking, steering and suspension — and building production bases and logistics systems requires significant investment. Consequently, supplier-customer relationships often continue for long periods based on trust.
The company said it aims to increase revenue from global customers to 40% by 2033. Hyundai Mobis plans to deepen collaboration with key customers in North America and Europe based on leading technologies and to grow orders in high‑growth markets such as China and India.
