[Herald Economy = Kim Young-sang] The Korea Future Eco-friendly Car Services Association (KFMSA), chaired by Lee Seok-gu, and Herald Media Group (Korea Herald · Herald Economy; CEO Choi Jin-young) co-hosted the launch of the Future AI Mobility Summit 2026 (FAMS 2026) at Seoul’s Transportation Hall on April 2. The organizing committee drew attention by appointing Park Jin-hyeok, a professor in the Smart Mobility Department at Seojeong University, as head of the FAMS supporters team, FAMS 2026 Pioneers. Park will oversee youth leadership development and hands-on support in the lead-up to the summit.

FAMS 2026, organized by KFMSA and the Korea Herald, is shaping up to be the country’s largest AI mobility summit. Under the slogan “Motion to Emotion,” the event aims to design a future mobility ecosystem that balances AI innovation, human sensibility, and environmental sustainability. The main summit is scheduled for June 30 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry international conference hall in Seoul.

From traffic-safety expert to youth mobility leader

Park Jin-hyeok is a former lead researcher for vehicle defect investigations at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (KATRI) and brings extensive field experience in automotive safety and mobility services. At Seojeong University, he leads smart mobility education and research. He also serves the local community in multiple roles: vice president of the Dongducheon City Council of Social Welfare, chief of the Dongducheon Municipal Affairs Monitoring Team, and secretary of the Dongducheon chapter of the National Unification Advisory Council. Observers note that his practical experience building public consensus on peace and unification positions him well to connect diverse stakeholders and run the Pioneers program effectively.

The organizing committee said Park’s mix of traffic-safety expertise, university-level youth education experience, and hands-on community leadership made him the ideal choice to help FAMS 2026 achieve its goal of bridging generations through technology.

What “Pioneers” means… a global, practical stage for next-gen talent

FAMS 2026 Pioneers is a supporters organization made up mainly of college students and young professionals who will handle on-site planning, operations, and publicity. The name “Pioneers” reflects the program’s aim to cultivate the next generation of leaders who will shape the future mobility ecosystem.

Park emphasized that “Pioneers will not be mere event assistants. They will participate directly in global networking, committee work, and content creation, gaining the practical experience needed to become mobility leaders.” He will manage the Pioneers’ composition, training, and operations, building a platform for young professionals interested in AI mobility to gain real-world international experience.

At the launch, the committee presented appointment letters to about 50 experts, including Park. The letters were jointly signed by Committee Chairman Lee Seok-gu (KFMSA chair) and Committee Chairman Choi Jin-young (CEO, Herald Media Group). The organizing committee established 19 specialist subcommittees covering areas such as global capital & VC, global carbon neutrality, the circular economy, smart rail innovation, green shipping, AI robotics, intellectual property and patents, and mobility service demonstrations.

Around 100 leaders from government, industry, academia, and media attended the event. Notable participants included Kim Young-tae, secretary-general of the International Transport Forum (ITF) under the OECD; Park Jun-hyung, director of Mobility and Automotive at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; Park Ho-seon, global chairman of the International Network of Korean Entrepreneurs (INKE); and Shin Deok-sang, executive director at Seojeong University.

“K-services will set global standards”

In his welcome remarks, KFMSA Chair Lee Seok-gu said, “FAMS 2026 will be a decisive turning point where practical K-services—such as battery repair, maintenance, and remanufacturing—set global standards.” Director Park Jun-hyung added, “Since the service industry is directly tied to public safety, the government will act as a strong partner by pushing regulatory reforms.”

The launch also featured MOU signings with seven strategic partners. The Korea Development Strategy Institute (KDS), AI Future (AF), Circle Tour Co., the International Network of Korean Entrepreneurs (INKE), the Korea Electric Ship Association (KEVA), and the Korea University Invention Association agreed to cooperate in building a global mobility network.

Countdown to the June 30 main event begins

With the launch, FAMS 2026 officially began its countdown. The summit will continue its global outreach with a Chinese delegation in May, participation at the ITF summit in Germany, and a forum in Uzbekistan in June. Organizers will hold a VVIP gala at RAUM on June 29, followed by the main summit on June 30 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry international conference hall, where they will unveil their vision for AI-driven mobility to an international audience.

Park said, “We will finalize the composition and operational plans for the youth supporters team and ensure FAMS 2026 becomes a practical platform that propels next-generation mobility talent onto the global stage.”
