An electric vehicle (EV) skidded on a rain-slick road in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, and caught fire.

Fire officials said that at about 8:06 a.m. on April 4, an EV traveling on a road in Guryong-dong, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, struck a guardrail after skidding and then ignited.

The driver escaped immediately, and authorities said there were no injuries.

Fire crews brought the main blaze under control and initiated battery-submersion measures to extinguish the battery fire.

Police and fire officials said the vehicle slid on the wet road, hit the guardrail, and the battery subsequently caught fire; they are investigating the exact sequence of events.
