An electric taxi erupted in flames after striking a curb.

According to fire officials, at about 6:43 a.m. on April 4, an electric taxi driven by a man in his 60s identified only as A hit a curb on a road in Bonggok-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon, in South Gyeongsang Province, and caught fire.

The vehicle was completely destroyed, and nearby roads were briefly closed while crews responded. The driver evacuated immediately and was not injured.

Firefighters dispatched 26 personnel and 13 pieces of equipment, including pumps and tanks. They declared the blaze extinguished at about 8:25 a.m., roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes after it began, and completed battery cooling procedures at 10:38 a.m.

Officials suspect the battery ignited from the impact when the vehicle struck the curb.

A fire official said, \"Witnesses reported smoke and flames after the vehicle struck the curb while in motion. We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.\"
