The BMW X7 continues to dominate the imported full-size SUV segment.

According to the Korea Imported Automobile Association (KAIDA), the X7 sold 372 units in February, ranking first in its segment.

That total is more than double the Range Rover’s 104 units and represents a 62.2% share of the segment.

Even combined, rival models such as the Mercedes‑Benz GLS, Lexus LX and Cadillac Escalade fail to match the X7’s sales volume.

Reshaping the market

The X7’s strength isn’t a short-lived trend.

Since its 2019 debut, the X7 has held the No. 1 spot among imported full‑size SUVs from 2020 to the present.

Notably, annual sales topped 4,000 units from 2023 through 2025, and last year the model posted an all‑time high of 4,593 units.

Observers say the X7 has done more than become a hit model — it has reorganized the segment around itself.

Driving Feel Unusual for a Full-Size SUV

Core Competitive Advantage

Buyers pick the X7 primarily for its driving performance.

While full‑size SUVs often feel heavy and soft as they grow, the X7 preserves BMW’s signature driving character.

Standard systems such as air suspension and rear-wheel steering contribute to surprisingly agile behavior for a vehicle of this size.

Many owners report it doesn’t feel markedly different from an X5 when driven on the road.

Also Competitive on Price

The X7’s base price starts in the roughly 150 million KRW (112,500 USD) range, placing it at a relatively lower price point compared with many rivals.

With promotional discounts of up to around 13 million KRW (9,750 USD), the effective purchase price can be even lower.

Standard equipment includes heated seats in all rows (including the third), five‑zone climate control, premium leather seating and a broad suite of driver‑assist systems — providing the packaging expected of a full‑size SUV.

Industry insiders call the X7 a rare example that combines driving performance, packaging and price competitiveness, and they expect its run at the top to continue for the foreseeable future.

BMW plans to introduce a next‑generation X7 and a fully electric iX7 model next year.
