Tesla is advancing domestic certification for the six-seat Model Y L, signaling that a South Korea launch could be imminent.

According to recently published Korea Energy Agency documents, the Model Y L cleared energy-consumption efficiency certification.

With certification complete, deliveries could begin in the first half of 2026.

The Model Y L is a long-wheelbase iteration of the current Model Y.

The wheelbase grows by about 150 mm (about 5.9 in), and overall length increases roughly 177 mm (about 7.0 in), reaching 4,976 mm (about 196.0 in / 16.3 ft).

That extra length enables a 2-2-2 six-seat layout.

The third row remains relatively compact, but the six-seat configuration broadens customer choice.

Domestic certification documents list the Model Y L as an all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric SUV.

Battery supply comes from LG Energy Solution in the form of a 97.25 kWh pack.

The certified driving range is

  • About 543 km on the combined standard (about 337 miles)

  • About 454 km in cold conditions (about 282 miles)

Those figures indicate the Y L helps mitigate the typical winter range loss seen in EVs.

May arrive in Korea before the U.S.

The Model Y L is already on sale in China and is produced at Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory for export to Asian and European markets.

By contrast, a U.S. launch timeline remains unclear.

Elon Musk has suggested the model may not reach the U.S. until after late 2026.

As a result, industry analysts expect sales to expand first across Asian markets, including South Korea.
