When shopping for used cars, drivers in their 20s tend to prioritize style, while those in their 30s and 40s increasingly search for family vehicles, the data show. Interest in work vehicles rises among buyers in their 50s and older.

Danggeun's peer-to-peer used-car service, Danggeun Used Cars, analyzed listings from December 2025 through February 2026 and on the 16th released findings that highlight clear generational differences in used-car preferences tied to life stage.

Drivers in their 20s leaned toward practical yet stylish domestic sedans. The most-viewed models were the Avante (1st), Grandeur (2nd) and Sonata (3rd), with Hyundai’s three core sedans occupying the top positions. Imported sedans also appeared in the top 10, including the BMW 5 Series (6th), 3 Series (8th) and Mercedes‑Benz E‑Class (9th).

In their 30s, buyers broadened searches beyond sedans to include SUVs and family-oriented vehicles. The Hyundai Grandeur (1st) and Kia Morning (2nd) remained near the top, while the Kia Carnival (3rd) and BMW X‑series (9th) — absent from the 20s rankings — emerged among the most viewed.

Among drivers in their 40s, the Carnival topped searches, underscoring strong demand for family vehicles. Premium sedans such as the Genesis G80 (8th) and Mercedes‑Benz E‑Class (10th) also made the list, indicating this cohort values space and comfort alongside brand prestige.

The presence of work vehicles grew with age. The Hyundai Porter entered the top ranks for the 50s group (4th) and rose to 1st among those 60 and older. Cargo and multipurpose models like the Kia Bongo (5th) and Hyundai Starex (6th) also featured prominently. Danggeun attributes this to middle-aged and older users who prefer to inspect and buy work vehicles through local, peer-to-peer transactions.

Danggeun Used Cars has seen steady annual growth in both listings and user activity. From 2024 to 2026, listings increased at an average annual rate of 42.6%, and completed transactions rose by an average of 23.8% per year. Last month the service completed an owner‑verification process for peer‑to‑peer listings so users can search in a more trustworthy environment.

A Danggeun Used Cars spokesperson said, "Users across age groups actively search for vehicles that fit their lifestyles on Danggeun Used Cars. With the owner‑verification system significantly improving listing trust, we will continue building a safe, reliable peer‑to‑peer used‑car marketplace."
