Audi plans to add a new wagon to its A6 lineup. The upcoming model could become the largest production station wagon in the brand’s history.
Although based on the A6 underpinnings, the model may be badged the A7L Avant.

The new A7L Avant will be built on the A6 platform but with a stretched long-wheelbase layout.
Extending the rear overhang should noticeably increase trunk volume — a change aimed at offsetting the cargo loss associated with the application of a mild-hybrid system.
Audi is also expected to use frameless side windows to reinforce the sporty profile tied to the A7.
Design updates: A5-style front end

The rear sees the most significant exterior revisions.
The new model uses a revised trunk-lid design, and the license plate has been moved to the rear bumper.
At the front, Audi may fit an A5 Sportback-style bumper for cars sold in China.

Audi will build the new model on its PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture.
The base powertrain is expected to be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI, while higher trims will likely pair a 3.0-liter V6 TSI with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The current A6 Avant measures about 196.5 inches (4,990 mm) overall with a 115.3-inch (2,927 mm) wheelbase. The new model is expected to grow to more than 5 meters (roughly 197 inches) in length.
Audi is expected to unveil the A7L Avant within the next few months, and industry observers say the model will likely debut at the Shanghai Auto Show this April.
