With the Accent discontinued in Korea, Hyundai's small-sedan lineage effectively ended at home, but the model continues to sell actively in overseas markets.

Hyundai has unveiled a mid-cycle refresh of the Verna that has grabbed attention among domestic buyers.

This update is a product-strengthening package based on the current generation introduced in 2023, not a full redesign. Hyundai kept the platform and powertrains but sharpened the exterior, convenience features, and safety equipment to boost competitiveness.

Hyundai says the update is intended to preserve its competitiveness in India's midsize sedan market.

Front-end-focused design changes

The most significant update in this facelift is the front-end design.

Hyundai retains the existing grille design while reshaping the bumper and surrounding elements to give the car a wider stance. The LED headlamps and lighting layout have also been tweaked.

The side silhouette remains largely unchanged, but Hyundai adds 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and chrome trim to project a more refined image. At the rear, taillamp graphics and the bumper design were revised to improve detailing.

The interior receives an updated infotainment layout.

It features a large display that combines a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen, and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity.

On select trims, ventilated seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a power sunroof are added to improve occupant comfort.

Safety equipment has been strengthened. Advanced driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist and forward-collision mitigation are available, and the car comes with multiple airbags plus a 360-degree camera as standard or optional equipment depending on trim.

The powertrain lineup is carried over: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The turbo model delivers roughly around 160 horsepower.

The Verna's local starting price is 1.09 million rupees, roughly 17 million KRW (about $11,390).
