Gongyoung Home Shopping announced on the 24th that, in observance of Fisheries Day on April 1, it will team up with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to host a special "Korea Fisheries Expo."

The event is designed to ease the strain of seafood prices and encourage shoppers to buy more. From March 25 through April 7, Gongyoung Home Shopping will offer 20% off coupons for seafood purchases via its online store and mobile app.

Featured items include squid, gulbi (dried yellow corvina), hairtail, mackerel, and gim (a type of dried seaweed). Each account can claim one coupon per week, with discounts up to 10,000 KRW (approximately $7.50).

The seafood-focused program "Bada Eobu" will run special segments, offering silver hairtail, squid, and gulbi for sale every Wednesday at 9:20 a.m. and 4:40 p.m., and on Saturdays at 5:20 p.m.

Gongyoung's mobile live-commerce channel, Gongyoung Labang, will broadcast live from Jeju on the 25th—at 3:00 p.m. it will feature discounted "imperfect" gulbi, and at 5:00 p.m. it will showcase Jeju silver hairtail. From March 31 through April 6, the mobile app will also host a Fisheries Day sale.

A Gongyoung Home Shopping spokesperson said, “We launched this campaign across all channels—home shopping, Gongyoung Labang, and our online store—to help energize the fishing industry. We hope shoppers take the chance to buy popular seafood at reasonable prices.”
