[Point Economy] Gmarket and Auction announced on the 10th that they are running a Super Brand Day with the U.S. Meat Export Federation through the 11th, offering U.S.-sourced meats selected under strict standards at special prices.
Super Brand Day is Gmarket and Auction’s signature partner promotion: they team up with brands to handpick top-quality products and layer on exclusive discounts. This year, in collaboration with the U.S. Meat Export Federation, they’re spotlighting premium American beef and pork at friendlier prices to help ease shoppers’ grocery bills.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs reported on the 9th that while vegetable prices fell week-on-week in the first week of March, livestock prices remain broadly high due to the spread of animal diseases and a reduction in herd sizes.
With meat prices still straining household budgets, Gmarket and Auction say this event aims to relieve some of that pressure by offering American meats at more reasonable prices.
Featured deals include: Premium beef belly slices (Usamgyeop) (2kg ≈ 4.41 lb), Choice-grade rib meat (1kg ≈ 2.20 lb), Premium short ribs for stewing (900g ≈ 1.98 lb), Choice-grade LA-style short ribs (2kg ≈ 4.41 lb), sliced pork neck (500g×4 packs ≈ 1.10 lb×4 packs), and The Savory Paper-Thin Pork Shoulder (Daepae Moksamgyeop) (250g×6 packs ≈ 0.55 lb×6 packs).
Shoppers can get a 10% payment discount on purchases over 10,000 KRW (about $7.50), capped at a 3,000 KRW (about $2.25) reduction, and select items are available at up to 30% off.
On the 10th, Gmarket will also host a special live stream. Its live commerce channel G Live will feature one hour of broadcast-only products starting at 12:00 p.m., name four top buyers who will receive Shinsegae gift certificates, and randomly award Starbucks e-gift coupons to eight customers who confirm their purchases in the comments during the show.
A Gmarket spokesperson said, “We carefully selected items from verified sellers to offer U.S. beef and pork at reasonable prices. We expect this event will make a variety of American meat products more accessible without as much concern over cost.”
