The Dubai-inspired chewy cookie trend is heating up, but so are concerns about food safety.
According to recent data obtained from the Food and Drug Administration by Congresswoman Seo Mi-hwa, there have been 19 reported violations since last November.
The most common issues? Unsanitary conditions and unlicensed operations, each accounting for seven cases. In a twist that's sure to leave a bad taste in consumers' mouths, some individuals caught selling these treats without proper authorization have faced legal action.
