(The CEN News / Reporter Son Chaeyoung) MBC's 'Today N' is back with a lively mix of stories — from fresh second acts at sea and nostalgic comfort food to weekend wellness and life abroad.
On the 30th episode, the show served up a spring spread built around seasonal azalea ingredients, featured a flounder hauled from 380 meters (about 1,247 ft), introduced a Taekwondo-trained dog named Cami, and toured an unusual sashimi spot in Gangdong-gu.
A three-generation family recipe for azalea bibimbap and hwajeon (flower pancakes) captured the full bloom of spring and held viewers' attention. Using home-grown ingredients and time-honored techniques, the meal delivered the season in every bite.
At Jumunjin Port, crews set out before dawn for high-stakes fishing. The oil flounder pulled from 380 meters (about 1,247 ft) showed off a rich, nutty flavor, and the segment explored how it shines across dishes from semi-dried preparations to sikhae (fermented fish). In Busan, Cami the Taekwondo dog wowed viewers with backflips and precise kicks — a performance born of deep trust between dog and owner that moved people beyond mere amazement.
In Seoul's Gangdong-gu, the show spotlighted a sashimi restaurant squeezed next to a real estate office. With generous portions, wallet-friendly prices, and a cozy, down-to-earth vibe, it felt like a neighborhood gem.
On the 4th episode, MBC's 'Today N' will bring viewers more slice-of-life features through the segments 'To the Sea Again,' 'Food Documentary,' 'Weekend Home,' and 'Global Vlog.'
The captain who returned to fishing after sailing the world's oceans
In 'To the Sea Again,' the program profiles Lee Ji-sang, now harvesting octopus out of Daecheon Port in Boryeong, Chungnam. A former deep-sea vessel captain who sailed the globe, he returned to coastal fishing to chase a long-held dream.
Lee struggled early on with unfamiliar operations but has since become a 9-year veteran. Together with his wife, he cleans and shares octopus, and their routine paints a picture of a new, contented life at sea.
Jjajangmyeon that calls up memories
'Food Documentary' shines a light on jjajangmyeon in Incheon. Born in China's Shandong province, the dish transformed in Korea into the black bean noodles beloved today.
Chefs fry chunjang (fermented black bean paste) to build deep flavor and add tofu for a lighter touch. The segment also traces the dish's evolution through variations like yuni-jjajang and baek-jjajang (white jjajang).
A couple living opposite lifestyles finds balance on weekends
'Weekend Home' follows a couple who split their time between Sejong and Jecheon in a five-days-in-the-city, two-in-the-country rhythm. The energetic wife and reserved husband recharge in different ways but find balance together.
They carve out solo time in separate spaces and still come together to tend a small garden and share meals, shaping a life that's distinctly theirs.
Atlanta, a city with Olympic memories
'Global Vlog' follows a family living in Atlanta who moved there searching for a better environment for their child. They now enjoy a life where nature and urban living coexist.
The segment highlights spots like Stone Mountain and Olympic legacy sites, offering a vivid look at local culture and daily life.
Meanwhile, MBC's 'Today N' airs Monday through Thursday at 6:05 p.m., hosted by Lee Hwi-jun and Park So-young.
