Taste, Hygiene, Service — The Triple Threat! 2026 Waguri Best Restaurants Program Opens March 9–31 to Spotlight Guri’s Must-Try Eateries
Guri City is inviting local restaurants to apply for the 2026 Waguri Best Restaurants & Longstanding Eateries program from March 9–31. The initiative officially certifies eateries that meet standards for flavor, cleanliness, and service, and aims to showcase trustworthy local dining spots to residents and visitors alike.
Eligible applicants are sit-down restaurants currently operating in Guri. To enter, owners should submit the Outstanding Restaurant Designation application and supporting documents—either in person at the Guri City Health & Safety Division, by mail, or via email. The selection process is conducted in two stages: a document review and a combined on-site inspection and public preference survey. During the paperwork stage, officials screen for administrative sanctions and verify years in operation. On-site, a panel of experts conducts tasting evaluations focused on flavor, value, and service, while food safety inspectors assess sanitation and the overall environment. Results from an online public poll are also factored into the final evaluation.
Businesses that score 85 points or higher move forward to a review committee and, if approved, will be designated as Waguri Best Restaurants or Longstanding Eateries. Selected establishments receive official Waguri Best Restaurant certification and promotional support from the city, helping to introduce them widely to both locals and tourists as Guri’s representative dining destinations.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun said, “The Waguri Best Restaurants program does more than list tasty places to eat. It seeks out establishments that excel in flavor, hygiene, and service to raise the standard of Guri’s food culture. We hope many businesses participate and grow together as restaurants that represent Guri.”
With this call for entries, Guri City aims to discover restaurants that define the area, strengthen a distinct Guri food-culture brand, and help revitalize the local business district.
