With Parents' Day around the corner, cash is the runaway favorite. Kakao Pay shared a survey from its financial journal showing that nearly nine out of 10 respondents said they prefer giving money.

According to Kakao Pay, 89% of the 27,095 people who answered the PayAttention survey named cash as their top choice for Parents' Day. Just 5% opted for a conventional gift, while health supplements and travel tied at 2% each.

Last year, people who used Kakao Pay’s transfer envelopes sent an average of 98,000 KRW (approximately $73.50). As mobile transfers become the go-to for holidays and special occasions, handing over cash has shifted into contactless, digital territory.

For Parents' Day, Kakao Pay rolled out a campaign called \"Don't Kakao Pay. Go See Them Now.\" The point is simple: put the app down and go visit your parents to say thank you in person, rather than relying only on money transfers.

The current Parents' Day gift trend mixes practicality with emotional connection. Even though cash remains king, Kakao Pay’s campaign is a reminder that nothing replaces a face-to-face visit.
